Safer Sex But Not Safer Hair?

I try to skip ‘Made in China’ products because I think them inferior, toxic, and their government sucks, but I just didn’t realize how incondite:

Not so pretty in pink

…Used condoms are being recycled into hair bands in southern China threatening to spread sexually-transmittable diseases they were originally meant to prevent…

…Despite being recycled, the hair bands could still contain bacteria and viruses, it said. People could be infected with (genital) warts or other diseases if they hold the rubber bands or strings in their mouths while waving their hair into plaits or buns, the paper quoted a local dermatologist who gave only his surname, Dong, as saying.

Holy crap; there isn’t a female with long hair who doesn’t tie her hair back, and though I don’t have the habit of adjusting my hair elastics using my mouth, I’ve seen it countless times…wait WTH is his last name?
